We are delighted to inform you that FOPPS and the school are now running an after school film club for Key Stage 2 children in the main school hall. It will be a chance for your child to experience a variety of films in a safe, happy and structured society. The FILMCLUB will be run fortnightly after school on Wednesday or Thursday night from 3.30pm to approximately 5.15pm (depending upon the length of the film so please check the programme).
What is FILMCLUB?
Our FILMCLUB aims to make a wide range films available to young people, which challenge, unite, educate, amaze and inspire. Your child will have the opportunity to explore the wonderful world of film and use the FILMCLUB website www.filmclub.org to search for the films they want to watch, submit reviews and enter exciting competitions!
Every member of FILMCLUB will receive a membership card on a lanyard and have the chance to win great prizes for writing reviews. We may also have the opportunity to meet actors, directors and film professionals who visit schools to answer questions, show clips from their work and in some cases give practical demonstrations such as special effects, makeup, wardrobe etc.
FILMCLUB will be free of charge to our pupils, but there will be an opportunity to purchase popcorn and a drink for £1 at each event. The children can also help to run their FILMCLUB by volunteering to help select the films, advertise them, prepare the venue, serve refreshments etc.
FILMCLUB is a government funded school activity and as part of their work, they sometimes film the clubs, interview by students and publish video material on their website. Occasionally there may be ‘out of organisation’ film crews filming or local/national press taking photographs. We will show films that are suitable for your children’s age and those that we deem suitable and appropriate. These will be U and PG ratings. Film classifications are explained below. For more details, visit www.bbgc.co.uk.
Film classifications
U - Suitable for audiences aged 4 years and over. U films should be set within a positive moral
framework and should offer reassuring counterbalances to any violence, threat or horror.
‘PG’ Parental Guidance – General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children
